This is one of the most popular temples of Maharashtra, located in the Pali village, about 28 km from Roha in the Raigad district. This temple is an important part of the sacred Ashtavinayaka Yatra, where eight Ganesha temples are visited. The temple is significant as it is named after a devotee of Ganesha, Ballal, and that is why the god here is known as “Ballaleshwar.” Constructed in 1640 by Vitthal Sindkar, this temple is located between Fort Sarasgad and the Amba River. Millions of devotees visit this place every year, especially during Ashtavinayaka Yatra to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
The temple is open from 5:30 AM. The first aarti is done early in the morning. It remains open till 10:00 PM so that devotees can visit throughout the day. A midday pooja is done at 12:00 PM, and in the evening aarti is performed at around 7:30 PM. Devotees often give “Modak,” a sweet dish, as an offering to Lord Ganesha.
