Pashupatinath Temple is the temple of the god- Shiva, as well as the temple of protector of animals called Pashupati, which is situated in Kathmandu in Nepal. Located along the Bagmati River, it is one of the largest pilgrimage sites that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and dates back to the 5 th century. The inner sanctum of this temple is devoted to a four-faced lingam among the other symbolisms of the divine presence of Shiva, and it is accessible to the Hindus only, whereas people belonging to other faiths may wander the vast expanse of the temple.
The temple is famous by its lovely and beautiful architecture having two-tiered roof made of gold and elaborate wood carvings. It is a cultural and spiritual centre having festivals such as a Maha Shivaratri which draw thousands of people. The local terrain is bare of bigger shrines, ashrams and ghats where cremation is performed, symbolizing a life and death cycle in Hinduism.

Pashupatinath is the Vedic learning center too, where priests appear and conduct rituals and chant on a daily basis. The temple has an atmosphere of peaceful but colorful nature that attracts people internationally but photography within the temple is limited. Entry is free, but donations are encouraged. The importance of the site is that it is a spiritual guiding lighthouse that provides adherence and conservation of Nepal in the Hindu culture.
