Thomala Seva is considered an important ritual to be performed daily at the TTD for Lord Venkateswara where it is decorated with more elegance flowers. This seva takes place early in the morning, starting at 3:30 AM and ended at 4 AM. Devotees can witness this beautiful flower decoration after the Suprabhata Seva, which awakens the deity from celestial sleep, daily sevas only to be halted by the closing service of the day, that is the beauty of this site

The charge for Thomala Seva is ₹220 per person and the seva is conducted only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Devotees need to gather at the Vaikuntham Queue Complex (VQC-I) by 3:from 8. 00 AM and each ticket holder will only be allowed inside the venue for anyone. Thiruppavai will be recited and basketfuls of flowers will be offered to the lord as the seva. Following the seva, all devotees are blessed to partake a Sweet Meal commonly known as prasadam which is a single laddu.

At the Central Reservation Office (CRO) in Tirumala, the process for booking Thomala Seva tickets is as follows:

• Pilgrims have to go to the CRO office in Tirumala which is situated opposite the Tirumala Bus Station.
• At the CRO office, next to the Vijaya Bank counter, pilgrims can sign up for the lucky draw from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• A random number is chosen at 6:00 PM to announce the lucky dip results. The registered mobile number will be notified by SMS if selected.
• Tickets for the temple’s inner roads, called Seva, are distributed at the Vijaya Bank Counter starting at 9:00 AM till all are gone based on what is available for the next day.

Thomala Seva Instructions – Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple

During Thomala Seva at the Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple, the deity Lord Venkateswara is offered beautiful flower garlands. The following advice is meant for devotees coming for this seva.

Dress Code for Thomala Seva

• For the men, the dress code involves a white or silk Dhoti paired with an upper cloth (uttareeyam). Remember that the Shirts, T-shirts and pants are not permitted in the seva.
• For women, either they dress in a Saree or a half-Saree, along with a blouse or in a salwar kameez with a dupatta. Western clothing such as jeans, skirts and T-shirts is prohibited.

Reporting Time & Entry Location

• Daily seva time: Daily, these seva may be done between 3:30 AM – 4:00 AM (based on then temple’s schedule).
• It is very important for Devotees to arrive at least 1 hour before the seva time to report.
• Vaikuntam Queue Complex or Supadam Entrance is used by guests with special tickets.

General Instructions for Devotees

• Get to the event early because late entrants might not be allowed inside.
• Take a copy of your valid ID proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, etc.), since it should match the info on your ticket.
• It is not allowed to take mobile phones, cameras and smartwatches into the exam hall.
• Maintain silence and follow the temple priests’ instructions.
• Those who attend should stay in their assigned seats and not move about while the seva happens.
• Photography and videography inside the sanctum are prohibited.

Ticket Price and Online Booking Process

The price of one Thomala Seva ticket is ₹220. Let’s first look at how to try online. Every month, on the 18th or 19th, the TTD will provide an update in advance, We can register for free. For example if they open registration at 10 a.m. on the 18th it will remain open for two days and will close at 10 a.m. on the 20th. Lucky Dip Selection and Payment

On the 20th, at around 12 p.m., selections are made live online through a lucky dip, which is a lottery system. The selected devotees will be notified via SMS and email. Some people say they don’t receive the message, but even if you don’t, you can log in with the same mobile number at around 12:15 p.m., go to “Booking History,” and click “Seva Electronic Dip” to see if you have been selected. After that, you have to pay the amount. They give about two days’ time for this. You must pay within this period, or the ticket will be canceled. When paying, you need to resize your photo to less than 1 MB and upload it. If one person is selected, you pay ₹220; if two people are selected, you pay ₹440, and then you can attend the seva on the selected date.

Advantages of Online Booking

The advantage of trying online is that you can easily do it from your home on your mobile. Generally, Thomala Seva takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. S for all four weeks of the month, if you click on “All Sevas,” you’ll have a higher chance of getting selected. This means that they open bookings for all four weeks, and if you select “All Dates,” your chances of getting selected increase. During special occasions, the seva will not be open for booking. If you are selected as a pair, you can also book accommodation online. If you want to have darshan again, you can book another darshan along with this ticket. You can keep trying online every month until you get selected.

Offline Booking at Tirumala

Next, let’s see how to try offline. We are now opposite the Tirumala main bus station at the CRO Room Booking Office. Opposite this place is the Arjitham Counter. The office is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is not necessary to have another darshan ticket. You have to go and stand in a queue between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to register, as they will take your photo and give you a slip with a number. You can register for one person or a maximum of two. Other sevas are also available, but you can only choose one. If you like Thomala Seva, you can try for it. They open about 10 quotas.

Offline Seva Schedule and Selection

Devotees are allowed to witness Thomala Seva only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

• If you want to see the seva on a Tuesday you have to come to Tirumala on Monday and try there.
• If you want to see the seva on a Wednesday, you can try on Tuesday. If you want to see it on a Thursday, you can try on Wednesday.
• So you can try on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday to see the seva on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
• They do not open the quota on other days. You can register your name anytime between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. After they close at 5 p.m., at around 5:30 p.m.
• you can witness the selection process through the lucky dip as you see on the screen.

Offline Payment and Darshan Entry

• If you are selected, you will immediately receive an SMS. You can also wait at the same spot at around 5:30 p.m. and watch the selection.
• If selected, the SMS will have a payment link. If you are unable to pay through the link, you can go to the Arjitham Counter, where you registered, and pay there.
• It’s best to pay by 7:30 p.m., as the counter might close later. Unlike before, they don’t conduct the dip in a different manner, so it’s good to pay as soon as you can.

Accommodation and Darshan Logistics

• If you book online, you can also book accommodation. When booking offline, you only get the results in the evening, so accommodation will be available only if you are lucky.
• If not, you can stay in a public community complex or in the Peththa Jiyarmutt locker opposite the temple gopuram.
• You’ll only be sleeping for a short while, and you won’t feel sleepy anyway after getting selected because you’ll be excited to see Perumal up close.
• In the morning, you should get up, take a bath, and go to the Subatham Entry which is on the right side of the temple gopuram, on the South Mada Veethi. You have to go through this and turn right. Even if you go and wait early, they only allow entry at 3 a.m.

Processional and Seva Preparations

• Ladies will be on their left after doing Pradakshinam. When you go and stand there, men who have completed their Pradakshinam will also come and wait for darshan.
• At that time, the Thomala for Perumal will be brought from inside the temple with music and drums, and they will go inside after circling the Dhwajasthambam.
• Once they go in, if there are any VIPs for Thomala Seva that day, they will be seated first. After that, the Udayasthamana ticket holders, who have donated ₹1 crore or more and get to see the seva once a year, will be seated in a room.
• After they are settled, those selected in the dip will be allowed in. You will be made to wait on the right side of the Dhwajasthambam, and after everyone is settled, you’ll be allowed to move forward.

Viewing the Seva Up Close

• If you try to go a little ahead and manage to get a seat in the Sayana Mandapam while waiting on the right side of the Dhwajasthambam, you’ll get to see Perumal up close.
• The main sanctum where the Tirupati Perumal is located is called the Garbhagriha. The Mandapam in front of it is the Sayana Mandapam.
• In front of that is the Rama Medai. They usually seat everyone within this area. If you go a little early, you can try to get a seat in the Sayana Mandapam.

Rules for Children and Physically Challenged Individuals

• the children below 12 years of age are allowed But they might be seated in the back, as the intention is that crying children might cause a disturbance.
• For physically challenged persons who are selected, you can go to the biometric gate with your ticket and ask for permission, and they will allow you in.
• If another person is selected with you, they have to come through the queue. The biometric gate is on the left side of the temple gopuram

Entrance for Thomala Seva

• You enter through the Subatham Entry on the right side of the gopuram, climb the steps, and turn right again. This is the way we go for ₹300 darshan and Virtual Seva.
• You don’t have to go all the way to the end. The Vaikuntam Complex, where there is a big picture of Perumal, is the place through which they allow entry.
• But the entry point is a little further. There is a teashop on the left side, and opposite the first teashop, there is an entry point.
• This is where the lucky dip seva ticket holders are allowed. If you have booked Pradakshinam or ₹300 darshan, you have to go a little further and turn right.
• If you are confused, you can ask the staff waiting there for the Thomala Seva entry point. You can join the queue at the entry point opposite the first teashop on the left.

Seva Highlights and Other Deities

• After the Suprabatham Seva ticket holders have had their darshan and come out, the Thomala basket is brought in, and then the Thomala ticket holders are seated.
• After that, those with Pradakshinam and Sarvadarshanam tickets are allowed. The Thomala Seva is the act of adorning the garlands to Tirupati Venkateswara Perumal.
• It can also be called Abhisheka Seva. While waiting for the Pradakshinam, we must have seen some people bringing three pots of Akasa Ganga Theertham with music and drums into the temple.
• The main idol of Perumal does not have a full Abhishekam every day; a full Abhishekam is performed only on Fridays.

Daily Abhishekam and Other Deities in the Garbhagriha

• On other days, the daily Abhishekam is performed for the Bhoga Srinivasa Perumal, who is similar to the main idol.
• He is placed near Perumal’s feet and can be seen whenever we go for darshan. The Akasa Ganga Theertham is brought for this Abhishekam.
• The Thomala Seva is performed both in the morning and evening. However, devotees can only participate in the morning seva on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
• During the month of Margazhi, the Thomala Seva is performed as Mūba Thomala Seva in a silent manner. So, devotees cannot participate during the entire Margazhi month. We can try for Thomala Seva on other days. It’s a great joy if you get a ticket.

Prasadam and Ticket Benefits

• After that, you can get the small ladoo prasadam and leave. If you book one ticket, you can get one ₹50 ladoo for free.
• If you book two tickets, you get two ₹50 ladoos for free. You can also buy extra ladoos based on availability.
• So, the Thomala Seva is the act of adorning garlands to the main deity Venkateswara Perumal and other deities inside the Garbhagriha, after performing Abhishekam for Bhoga Srinivasa Perumal, Salagramam, and the golden feet of Perumal.
• Devotees are allowed to see this in the morning on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Attending this seva early in the morning is a wonderful experience.

Alternative Ways to Obtain a Ticket

Are the only ways to attend this seva through the lucky dip? No, there is another way. If you know any higher officials in Andhra Pradesh or any TTD board members, you can try through their quota, which is through recommendation.
